I just received this dress for my wife in the mail today and she couldn't wait to put it on. She is short at 5' 1" and this is a really short dress, but we both love it. It is like a glove. So if you think it will be easy to zip by yourself, your wrong. She got a large. She had to put it on backwards, zip it up and find a way to turn it around. She managed, but if it's even a little snug someone else will probably have to zip it up. It does have wires in it. One of them is already trying to poke through the outside, Not a huge deal yet. My wife is happy and that is what matters.
- Brandon Eilar

Hot diggity this looked awesome. Let's face it, this gets the job done and your MRS will not feel cheap in this.

European Nations End Weapons Embargo, Creating Path to Arming Syrian Rebels - New York Times

BRUSSELS ' European Union foreign ministers gathered here on Monday amid deep divisions over whether to allow member countries to send lethal aid to the Syrian opposition.

Britain is pressing hardest for the union to amend an embargo and allow weapons shipments to forces opposing the regime of President Bashar al-Assad, whose troops have made recent gains. 'How long can we go on with people having every weapon that's ever been devised dropped on them while most of the world denies them the means to defend themselves? That is creating extremism, it is radicalizing people,' William Hague, the British foreign secretary, warned in comments to reporters at the start of the meeting.

Mr. Hague said he would seek 'common ground' with his European partners but added that 'doing the right thing for Syria' is 'more important than whether the E.U. is able to stick together on every detail of this.'

France supports that position but has signaled the need for consensus. Austria, Sweden and the Czech Republic are deeply skeptical about easing the embargo. They distrust large parts of the opposition and they fear the weapons will end up in the hands of jihadist groups and inflame fighting in the Middle East.

'I think the European Union has to hold the line,' Michael Spindelegger, the Austrian foreign minister, told reporters ahead of the talks. 'We are a peace community,' and sending lethal weapons 'would be a reversal of our policy,' he warned.

These governments say funneling arms to the opposition now would undermine the chances of a deal with the Assad regime ahead of a planned international peace conference in Geneva sponsored by the United States and Russia.

Austria also has warned that easing the embargo would endanger Austrian troops who patrol the United Nations cease-fire line in the Golan Heights on the border between Israel and Syria.

The embargo was imposed to hobble the ability Assad regime's capacity to trade and raise money, and to curb the movements and personal wealth of Mr. Assad's family and associates.

But the embargo is expiring at the end of the week and that has put pressure on ministers to reach deal with some modifications holding out the prospect of additional help for opposition fighters.

Other governments, like the Dutch, said reaching a unified position was vital. 'We need to find some middle ground,' Frans Timmermans, the Dutch minister of foreign affairs, said ahead of the meeting.

'Already now quite a lot of arms are going to the wrong hands even with a European arms embargo,' Mr. Timmermans said. But 'if changing the arms embargo could send a clear message to Assad saying, you know, the other parties will also have access to arms if you don't go to Geneva to negotiate, then in that context changing the arms embargo could be a useful tool,' he said.

Mr. Timmermans said he and his German counterpart, Guido Westerwelle, were part of efforts to reach a compromise. One possible agreement would involve easing the arms embargo if there is no progress at planned peace talks in Geneva. Other elements of a compromise could involve limiting the types of weapons allowed, and which rebel groups may receive them.

'There are strong views in favor of trying to find a way that Europe can demonstrate not only that it is united but also that it has a good and strong position to take forward,' said Catherine Ashton, the European Union's foreign policy chief, who sets the agenda for such meetings.

Marilyn Satin Halter Bridesmaid Dress Junior Plus Size Holiday Prom Gown, 2X, Lavender Reviews

Marilyn Satin Halter Bridesmaid Dress Junior Plus Size Holiday Prom Gown, 2X, Lavender Reviews
I ordered the burgandy dress in 3X and it arrived this morning. While I will have to take it in a bit (I always order big), it's still a very flattering cut straight out of the box! Fast shipping, great fit, it will be a wonderful dress for my brother's wedding. (And any other occasions I can think of, too!) I honestly like this dress better than I liked my own wedding dress! Be prepared to show a lot of back and chest, though. If you're uncomfortable, I'd suggest a small gauze jacket.
- Lauren Bailey

I bought this dress because I needed it to concentrate a wedding.....I was very disbelieving in this area ordering it on online because I needed it three living before to the wedding. But as I expected it I was impressed...The shipping was instant, the dress was great I looked amazing. The only critic I would be inflicted with is know your mass as you are ordering this dress because it runs tiny other than with the intention of its a beautifull dress.!!!!
- M. Valmir

I bought the dress in silver as my wedding dress (2nd wedding). It is absolutely perfect. Quality of material is FANTASTIC and it fits true to size. I am a perfect size 10. The bust size was generous as I am a 38D. A C cup will fill this dress nicely if you wear a 10, but anything smaller than a C, be careful. The dress arrived in lightening speed and it came with a shawl that I was pleasantly surprised to receive. You CAN NOT go wrong buying this dress. The price is right, the dress is made of the finest material and is NOT one of those cheaply made light-weights. You will really be happy you made this purchase.
- Teeky3

Pay attention to their size chart and this dress will fit like a dream. Great for curvy girls! Love it!
- C. Apple

It's fabulous and fits like a dream!Ladies, if you're looking for some extra oomph in the bust area or help with hiding larger hips, this is the dress for you. The satin is a heavier material so it hangs well and the skirt gives you an extra flounce when you walk.Shipping was extremely quick, and though there is no size chart for this particular dress, the Rhinestone Pin Satin Halter Gown Bridesmaid/Prom Dress is similar, so you can use that as your guide.I'm seriously in love with this dress, and so is the bride!
- Roxie Hart "stereo child"

I ordered this dress for prom, and it was brilliant. Very flowy, and comfy. The only complaint I have is that it is lower cut than it seems in the picture. We used the pin to make it a slightly higher cut. Also, that back of the dress is quie low, so if you plan on buying, make sure you can either go with out a bra, or have something that has a clear backstrp or something.
- M. Morgan "Scifiluver"

This dress is really great and the clarification is definitely of high quality...but the measurements suck. It was awkwardly lingering, inane extremely nearly to my ankles as it's held to be around my knees....I'm an norm 5'5" so that seemed unusual. The hips were made big even as the waist was tiny. The boobs were also practically generous. I commit the women that are this affect, but it's not me! Export this dress really put me in a bring collectively in check over of the fact that I had to restore it. Beware of the measurments!!
- A. Noyes

This dress is GORGEOUS. The company is really nice too. The dress shipped in less than a week, and I had gotten a large just because the waist measurement was a little bit off.. well when the dress came ((i got the teal)) it was BEAUTIFUL. but it was also huge on me.. so we emailed PacificPlex and they were so helpful in walking us through the exchange process. I exchanged it for a medium in the lavender and it's on it's way right now. the fabric is thick and the skirt twirls BEAUTIFULLY. I felt like a princess when I put the dress on. Just make sure to buy your normal size (i'm usually a medium.) :]
- Erica June

This dress is well made, but it's sized for HUGE breasts. We had to have it tailored. So for you gals who can fill it, this is a great dress!
- Paula

I bought this dress in the brown. It is a beautiful copper/brown (not a boring brown). The fabric is shiney and sensual. The fit is true to size. I wear a 12 and bought the size recommended for 12-14. It fits beautifully. Due to the style, the bust is a little baggy, but a few tucks will help it. I'm 5'3", and the dress is mid-calf, which adds to the elegance. It's a great dress for a wedding or fancy party. It also twirls nicely for dancing.
- P. J. Powers

Paul George has rapidly developed into a serious challenger to LeBron James - ESPN

MIAMI -- Paul George will never forget that moment in 2009 when, as a skinny 19-year-old, he found himself guarding the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player. Not in a video game, in a real-life pickup game.

Every year, LeBron James hosts the top high school players in the country at a Nike-sponsored camp. Many top college players are also there as "counselors." In reality, it's a recruitment fest for college coaches and a chance for Nike to develop ties with talent they one day might try to hire as endorsers.

One of the highlights every year, both for the few spectators allowed in and certainly the young men themselves, happens when James suits up and takes on the teenagers in roving pickup games. It's common that he'll bring some NBA friends to those games, including, at times, fellow superstar Chris Paul.

[+] Enlarge

Robert Mayer/USA TODAY SportsIndiana's Paul George is growing his game into a serious challenge for LeBron James.

It's something to see, teenagers who know they're talented and are already into full coddle by the national machine, sometimes turning pale when they suddenly find themselves defending a James-Paul pick-and-roll.

After a good freshman season at Fresno State, George was invited to the camp. Once there, he was given the wave over to the court on which James was playing.

"I like challenges, and it was a challenge," George said. "It was my first time playing against someone of his nature. It was fun. I took a lot away from it."

There was no way either of them realized back then that this was going to be the first of many showdowns.

And there will indeed be many, because, even if it might not be getting the proper attention now, James versus George is almost assured to be the newest great rivalry in the NBA.

James and George have already staged two fantastic mini-dramas in the first two games of the Eastern Conference finals. They've traded clutch shots, jaw-dropping feats of athleticism and long-range bomb shots.

After George's dunk heard round the world over the victimized Chris Andersen Friday night in the Pacers' Game 2 win, James answered with a 30-footer over the top of his new rival. The two then slapped hands at center court.

"He said, 'I got you back young fella,'" George said.

Get ready, this is going to be a long game of attempts at one-upmanship.

"

"He's going to be a great one. I thought he had some unbelievable talent back [in 2009] when I met him. He went to a school that no one really paid attention to. But I'm one of those guys who stays up late at night and watches those games. I knew him."

" -- LeBron James on Paul George

At age 28 and in his prime after winning his fourth MVP, James isn't going anywhere. At age 23 and coming off his first-ever All-Star season and first appearance on the All-NBA team, neither is George. They are already playing their second playoff series against each other, and both of their teams have aspirations of being back playing deep into the playoffs for the foreseeable future.

"He's going to be a great one," James said. "I thought he had some unbelievable talent back [in 2009] when I met him. He went to a school that no one really paid attention to. But I'm one of those guys who stays up late at night and watches those games. I knew him."

One of the reasons this matchup has so much potential is because of the volume of the action. Unlike with James' more universally established young rival Kevin Durant, George plays in James' conference. They are assured of more meetings. And, unlike Durant, George is guarding James for 40 minutes a game, a task virtually no one else in the league tries to take on.

James moves around defensively, but he will spend more and more time on George as the young swingman develops his offensive game, which is still his weakness.

This isn't James-Durant yet, but you're fooling yourself if you don't see the great potential in how they line up against each other.

"He's improving every time I see him play," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "Every time I see him, he looks taller. He has a unique skill set for his size."

In Game 1, they traded off making huge plays for their teams in the fourth quarter and overtime. George had a brilliant three-point play, on which he drove right through James, then followed it up with a clutch 3-pointer over him at the end of regulation to force overtime.

James got him back by securing a crucial rebound in overtime by out-leaping George. Then, in one of the biggest plays this postseason, James burned George on the game's final play by driving past him to the rim for the game-winning layup at the buzzer. George had taken a bad angle and James crushed the error, leaving George to think about the mistake until after 4 a.m. that night.

Game 2 saw James put forth a signature playoff performance with 36 points, but it was George's 22 points -- including that dunk -- that changed the game's momentum. He also learned from his mistake and stayed in front of James on the final two possessions to force him to give up the ball.

"This is what you dream of," George said. "Playing against LeBron in games like this deep in the playoffs."

James got the better of George in their first meeting in the playoffs last season. Though George split the defensive duties with Danny Granger, when James and Dwyane Wade went on a three-game scoring binge to win last year's second-round series, plenty of it came at the expense of the still-learning George. The Pacers' young star played a lot of minutes then but rarely affected the outcome of the games. Frankly, he was rather forgettable.

But George's rapid improvement really caught James' eye a few months later in Shanghai, during workouts and exhibitions on a Nike promotional tour. It was not a surprise to the Heat star that George ended up winning the NBA Most Improved Player award.

Now, George has James' full attention.

"His maturity and his game have definitely risen in just one year," James said. "His teammates have a lot of confidence in him, and he has a lot of confidence in himself.

What makes this budding rivalry so intriguing is how much George and James are alike. They're both listed at 6-foot-8 but are probably 6-foot-9, or perhaps even taller in George's case. They both have terrific quickness and versatility defensively. They both are their team's leading scorers and best passers.

They're both strong rebounders. That they're the only two players in the East to have a triple-double in the postseason says it all. It just has the look and feel that it's the start of something.

"The more I guard him, the more I'll understand his game," George said. "With LeBron, you've got to be on your toes."

George is not as dynamic an offensive player as James at this point. While James has taken leaps in his shooting and overall efficiency in recent seasons, George struggles at times with shot selection and is known to battle turnover problems.

Then again, Friday was James' 24th career conference finals game. It was George's second. They don't compete totally on an equal footing from a skill development or experience standpoint.

At least not yet.

"I've got a lot of potential left," George said. "I'm 23 with ambitions of being great in this league, and I won't stop until I get there."

Allegra K Women Scoop Neck Long Sleeve Bar Striped Dress Black Red White XS Buyer Reviews

Allegra K Women Scoop Neck Long Sleeve Bar Striped Dress Black Red White XS Buyer Reviews
I lovvve this dress! Very true to size, fits perfectly! Only problem is that I couldnt find the care instructions :P My boyfriend ordered it for me on 15th of May and it got here on 24th of May, when the estimated delivery was 11th of June!! The belt looks really weird in material but it makes the dress look cuter anyways :) If you are always an xs, then buy this in xs, if youre a small, buy a small, etc.. I am 5'2" and it comes to just barely above my knees, and I have some red converse I wear with it and its just adorable!
- Alyssa!

Cute item, great material, but I think it maybe a little shorter than what I expected. Still, love this piece.
- Amy

Omg...I love this dress its so cute...I got the small n it fit perfect, but am normally a xs...the meterial is not cheap looking like some of the other dresses I brought...
- candy

I have read a lot of reviews saying Allegra K items are poor quality, which made me skeptical about buying this dress. However, this dress is great! The quality is actually pretty good. The dress looks exactly like the picture. The only thing I'm not too fond of is the belt. It looks okay, but I am going to wear the dress with a different belt. For $15, this dress is a good bargain! I would recommend it!
- treetop15

I love the clothing line, just wish they had more sizes available other than XS... not to many people are XS these days. Size small and up should also be available.Hope you guys could fix this, I would buy more items from here if the sizes were available. Thanks!
- Juliana

This dress is really cute and the price is great. I like the fabric, it's not too thin, and the size is perfect. I wear size 2-4 dresses, but I have wider hips, and this fits me perfectly. The bottom part of the dress is kinda of puffy looking, but nothing that can't be worked around. Overall great product for the price. I have to say that it is intended for short people though. I'm 1,60m and I don't think it is a dress long enough for anyone taller than that. But works for me and I love it!
- marina

For this price, I actually expected the quality to be rather cheap, but my friend recommended me this dress, so i bought it.It arrived after only a week and i was surprised with how good it looks on me. The dress is very well made, and the fabric is soft and feels good on my skin. Only negative: the belt smells a little like plastic (no wonder) but after i sprinkled some perfume on it the odor was gone. However, the belt does look kind of cheap, so i will use one of my real leather belts with it.The top is quite tight around the arms, so keep that in mind when ordering. Rather pick one size larger than you would usually wear. I am an XS and i ordered a size S, which fits me perfectly.
- A. Trenkwalder

Beautiful dress! This dress fits me very well and complimented my figures. The length is perfect (a tad above my knee, but that's why I like it) and I love the leather belt it comes with. Overall, great quality and the fabric is not stretchy. Definitely recommended to everyone.
- Bao Tran Nguyen

I Love this dress got here quick and it fits great!!! My husband is getting home from being deployed and I'm wearing this for his home coming I'm super excited thanks Allegra k!
- lilly

This dress is half of what I expected. It was a pretty heavy material that would probably do well in the fall or spring when it is still cool outside. The upper half of the dress is pretty form fitting, and not in a good way. it is kind of restricting and I usually wear a xs. The dress needs to be worn with a belt seeing as the fabric from the lower half of the dress bulges out in such a way that makes it look a little bit like a maternity dress. But worn with a thick belt it is not noticeable. Also the dress does come with a belt but it is a very cheap plastic belt, and I wouldn't recommend wearing it with the dress. However for the most part the dress is not too bad, and with a different belt, some black stockings, and black heals it can be rather cute. Good Luck.

Skagit River bridge collapse: Looking for a temporary fix (+video) - Christian Science Monitor

It may be months before the I-5 bridge over the Skagit River near Seattle is repaired. Until then, authorities are considering a temporarybridge of the type used in Europe during World War II.

The I-5 bridge that got clipped by a truck and fell into the Skagit River in Washington State may have been old, its design officially 'functionally obsolete.' But the temporary fix to get traffic moving again along this busy highway corridor linking Seattle north to Canada may be of a type that's even older.

Authorities are considering a 'Bailey Bridge' like the ones used in World War II to get Allied tanks and other military vehicles across rivers in Germany and Italy after D-Day. Such bridges are designed to be portable and temporary, constructed quickly then taken apart to be used elsewhere.

The Washington State Department of Transportation built a 180-foot Bailey Bridge over the Chehalis River in 2007, after a flood washed out a county bridge, the Seattle Times reports.

For highway use, such bridges can clear spans up to 200 feet long, according to Bailey Bridges, Inc. in Fort Payne, Ala. The I-5 bridge over the Skagit River is 160 feet long, so the idea there is feasible.

For such a system to work, however, the existing concrete piers under the bridge's road surface would have to be sound.

That's just one of the things state and federal authorities need to investigate as they piece together what happened to send a portion of the bridge plummeting into the river Thursday evening, then figure out a permanent solution.

'Patience is going to be the watchword,' Gov. Jay Inslee said at a press conference Friday.

Gov. Inslee, a former member of Congress who won the governorship last year, says it will cost $15 million to repair the bridge, which averages 71,000 vehicles a day. Meanwhile, other bridges crossing the Skagit have backed up traffic through residential and business areas.

What's known for sure so far is that a truck with a large load clipped one of the metal trusses that are part of the essential design holding up the bridge. That section of the bridge collapsed immediately, sending a pickup truck and an SUV into the river. No one was killed, and injuries to drivers and passengers were minor.

While the Federal Highway Administration lists the bridge as "functionally obsolete' because it's an old design, it had not been classified as structurally deficient.

The bridge has a maximum clearance of about 17 feet ' higher than the truck's load in this case ' but the clearance curves down to 14 feet 5 inches along the sides, where the collision occurred. The tractor-trailer was hauling drilling equipment southbound.

The truck's owner ' Mullen Trucking in Alberta,Canada ' had a permit to carry the oversize load on the Interstate 5 highway. The driver has not been cited for any infractions.

It's not rare for trucks to strike bridges in Washington State, the Associated Press reports. The state Department of Transportation lists 21 bridge-strikes involving trucks last year, 24 in 2011, and 14 in 2010.

Officials performed a special inspection six months ago on the bridge that collapsed because there were indications it had been struck by a different vehicle.

A report released Friday said the checkup was done due to "impact damage," and inspectors identified tears, deformations, and gouges on the northbound side of the bridge.

In that Nov. 29, 2012, impact, an overheight truck struck a metal overhead truss on the bridge. An inspection crew determined the bridge to be safe, with only minor repairs required. Those repairs were added to an existing list of bridge maintenance items to be completed at a future date.

The collapse of the bridge north of Seattle highlights recent calls by President Obama and state officials to repair the nation's infrastructure.

'Regardless of how this happened, the collapse of the Skagit River Bridge in Washington State is a timely reminder of our nation's need to invest in critical infrastructure upgrades,' Ed Rendell, Co-Chair of Building America's Future and former Governor of Pennsylvania, said in a statement. 'Our nation's bridges, roads and highways are deteriorating before our eyes, and today's incident was a call to action,'

'According to our report'Falling Apart and Falling Behind,' America currently has more than 69,000 structurally deficient bridges, many of which haven't been updated in decades,' Mr. Rendell said. 'If the US wants to remain competitive in the global economy and provide safe, efficient transportation systems for our nation, then I urge state and local officials to act now and find creative ways to fund these projects, so that future collapses and accidents can be avoided.'

I was so excited to receive this dress that I opened it immediately. It came neatly packaged in white tissue paper tied with a pink ribbon and upon opening it, I was instantly pleased by the silky texture of the fabric. It feels almost luxurious, and the color is very vibrant. I wear a size ten, so I purchased the medium, which fits well. The sleeves are slightly shorter than shown on the mannequin, but the dress hits just below the knee. The draping is lovely and overall, the dress is very flattering. This is a beautiful dress for such a great price, and I would not only recommend it to others, but would buy from this company again.
- Mo

This is a lovely dress!! I'm 5'11" and this hits right at my knee in XL, but the sleeves are above my elbow instead of just below as pictured. The size is dead on, the fabric is a perfect weight nod has a great drape with stretch. I love the way jersey wears and this is a great cut for the weight of fabric. Very flattering, very classy. I love it.
- Rabbitlord3

love my dress fits true to size wish I had biought the red one as well.....weat it a lot day and evening just works fine
- SHOEAHOLIC

This dress is beautiful. I wasn't sure what to expect for the price, since it's pretty reasonable. The dress exceeds my expectations! I bought the blue dress, and the color is vibrant...a true royal blue. The sleeve length would be good for any season, except maybe the very hottest days in summer. I was also a little worried about the size since it was a S M L XL selection, rather than dress sizes, and after two pregnancies, my body seems like it's changing all the time. This dress allows for different proportions and body types. Though it probably won't matter for most people, this dress works for nursing, which makes it even more versatile if you're a new mom. I'm going to buy the red one since I like the blue one so much!
- kpark905

make sure to wear a slip under, the material is thin, it worked perfect for my husbands Christmas party, I received lots of compliments
- SLee

Very pleased with this dress, it fits well and the red is very vibrant. It is feminine and has good coverage.
- deirdre dAMRON

I purchased this dress for a brew have fun at work and paired it with a pair of black heels and a white peacoat. The bow does NOT have to be in the front, so I wrapped it almost and united it in the back. I received so many greetings on this dress, I felt so sexy.
- Caitlyn

I wore this dress for my husband's company party held at night. I regularly wear petite size 10-12, 5'2 frame. The dress color is very flattering and slimming . I recommend wearing a nice full coverage bra that covers some bulge in the back to cover back imperfections or some shaping body wear to hide some trouble spots. This fits any type of shoes from pumps to sandals. This fits well to travelers, no need to iron if folded in luggage well. Wash in delicate cycle inside a laundry bag protector to avoid fabric pills. I love this dress.
- yayo

The description of the dress was right on. The sizing chart was accurate and the quality of the material is great. Wore this to a casual dinner party and had soooo many compliments. Of course, the shoes you wear with a cocktail or party dress makes alot of difference too! Love, love, love the dress!
- RJ

I am very happy with my new dress! I ordered the Medium, and I was afraid that it might be too big. Happy to say that it fits very well. To give you an idea regarding if this will fit you, I wear a size 6-8. This Patty dress (Medium) fits very nicely. Keep this info in mind when you order your dress. :)

FO63B7931 - Zebra Inspired Multi-Colored Graphic Print Beaded Halter Smocked Bodice Long / Maxi Dress ( Various Colors / Sizes ) - Yellow/Medium Recent Reviews
My family and I are going to a luau later this summer so I wanted a new dress to wear. I saw this one and just fell for it. I was a little worried because I am tall, 5ft 10in, and very curvy with a good sized bra size (40DDD) so I had had some concerns. When it arrived I could not wait to try it on and when I did I was very happy! It FIT BEAUTIFULLY! My husband loves the colors and fit and so do I!
- juligreeneyes

The dress fits well and is definitely worth the money, however, I choose this dress cause of the light blue and orange colors but instead got more red, lots of green and navy blue and very very little light blue!! Not what I wanted!!
- A. Pollonais

I wore this to summer concert in the park and received alot of compliments. It was sooo soft and draped nicely. Im 5.6 and it went to top of heel. I only gave it 4 stars because color advertised as yellow except whn it came all the yellow stripes were on the back and I wanted thm on front. I paid to have halter straps switched from front of dress to back but if company advertise color as "yellow" then they should make sure halter on FRONT OF DRESS lines up with yellow stripes.
- WitchyPooh

This dress is very nice. It's made out of a smooth, stretchy material. Though be aware that the material is also somewhat clingy and more susceptible to damage. The thread in the material can be easily pulled out and cut by any object being hooked into it (i.e. a broken nail, velcro)If you are 5'5" like me then this dress might be a hassle to wear. Expect the bottom of the dress to be damaged from routine wear. There is just enough clearance for your feet, but the bottom will still likely drag along the ground at some point. You could probably hem the bottom to make it shorter. The beads on the tie string don't bother me at all, though the string itself is somewhat annoying if you tie it tight to keep the dress from sliding down. You will probably have to remove the beads from the dress when you wash it so there is no water damage. (The colorful beads are wood while the metallic ones are plastic.)I haven't worn the dress out yet, so I can't comment on how well the bodice stays in place or any other issues that can come while wearing it. I purchased the yellow version of this dress since the colors match better to me.

State report shows downed bridge had gouges, impact damage - Fox News

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. ' Officials in Washington state performed a special inspection six months ago on the Interstate 5 bridge that collapsed because there were indications it had been struck by a different vehicle.

An inspection report released Friday by the state Department of Transportation says inspectors brought in a bucket truck to examine the structure and identified tears, deformations and gouges on the northbound side of the bridge.

In that Nov. 29, 2012, impact, an overheight truck struck a metal overhead truss on the bridge, DOT spokeswoman Broch Bender said. An inspection crew determined the bridge to be safe, with only minor repairs required. She said those minor repairs were added to an existing list of bridge maintenance items to be completed at a future date.

The inspection report also details a variety of other problems with the bridge, including vegetation growing in panels, and rust. It also summarizes a variety of parts on the bridge that have been subjected to "high-load" hits.

A trucker was hauling a load of drilling equipment Thursday evening when his load bumped against the steel framework over the bridge. He looked in his rearview mirror and saw the span collapse into the water behind him.

Two vehicles fell into the chilly river. The three people in those vehicles were not seriously hurt.

As authorities try to find a temporary span, motorists will have to use alternate routes during the holiday and for weeks to come.

"You cannot overstate the importance of this corridor to Washington state," Gov. Jay Inslee said. Traffic on I-5 and surrounding roads was backed up for miles, a situation the governor said would continue indefinitely.

Officials were looking for a temporary, pre-fabricated bridge to replace the 160-foot section that failed, Inslee said Friday. That option could be in place in weeks. Otherwise, it could be months before a replacement can be built, the governor said.

The collapse came on the north end of the four-lane bridge near Mount Vernon, about 60 miles north of Seattle.

"He looked in the mirrors and it just dropped out of sight," Cynthia Scott, the wife of truck driver William Scott, said from the couple's home near Spruce Grove, Alberta. "He was just horrified."

The truck driver works for Mullen Trucking in Alberta, the Washington State Patrol said. The tractor-trailer was hauling a housing for drilling equipment southbound when the top right front corner of the load struck several of the bridge's trusses, the patrol said.

Scott, 41, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He voluntarily gave a blood sample for an alcohol test and was not arrested.

The truck made it off the bridge, but the other two vehicles went into the water about 25 feet below.

Bryce Kenning, of Mount Vernon, said the bridge seemed to explode in front of him. The 20-year-old slammed his brakes, but there was nothing he could do.

"It was like time was frozen -- like a roller coaster where you're not attached to the tracks," Kenning said in a phone interview.

Ed Scherbinski, vice president of Mullen Trucking, said in an interview with The Associated Press that state officials had approved of the company's plan to drive the oversize load along I-5 to Vancouver, Wash.

Mike Allende, a state Department of Transportation spokesman, confirmed the truck had a permit.

"We're still trying to figure out why it hit the bridge," Allende said.

State officials approved the trucking company to carry a load as high as 15 feet, 9 inches, according to the permit released by the state. However, the southbound vertical clearance on the Skagit River bridge is as little as 14 feet, 5 inches, state records show. That lowest clearance is outside of the bridge's vehicle traveling lanes, Transportation Department communications director Lars Erickson said Friday. The bridge's curved overhead girders are higher in the center of the bridge.

The bridge has a maximum clearance of about 17 feet.

The permit specifically describes the route the truck would take, though it includes a qualification that the state "Does Not Guarantee Height Clearance."

It's not rare for trucks to strike bridges in Washington state. The state DOT said there were 21 bridge-strikes involving trucks last year, 24 in 2011 and 14 in 2010.

There are no signs leading up to the Skagit River bridge to warn about its clearance height. State Transportation Secretary Lynn Peterson said that under federal and state standards, the clearance is tall enough to not require signage.

Inslee said it will cost $15 million to repair the bridge. The federal government has promised $1 million.

The bridge is used by an average of 71,000 vehicles a day.

A Federal Highway Administration database lists the bridge as "functionally obsolete" -- a category meaning that the design is outdated. But it was not classified as structurally deficient.

I bought this dress because I fell in love with the color. It met every one of my expectations and then some. It is well made - nice mid-weight fabric (easy wash and dry too, I've never had to iron it). It fits very well and every time I wear it I receive compliments (even from strangers!) I plan on buying one in every color.
- Jennifer H.

The dress is one size smaller than normal U.S size, more like junior size, but I like the design, and it goes pretty well with my black and white dotted sweater. The seller is pretty responsible and receptive to inquiries. overall a positive shopping experience

KAMALIKULTURE Women's Sleeveless Shirred Waist Dress, Blocked Mesh/Red/White, XS Recent Reviews
The material is very soft and stretchy, which means it shows your body exactly as you are.If you have flat belly, go for it; it will flatter you.But if you have something around your belly like me, I don't strongly recommend this dress as you will look really chubby...sigh.
- malmokko

When you read the magazines they advise that those of us shaped a bit like a surf board, should go for geometric patterns. I totally get why now - this dress makes me look like i have curves for days with this illusion/trick.
- spencertrini

I'm almost embarrassed to say that I have FIVE of these dresses: solid black, solid red, two patterned black ones and one patterned red one. They are great for the office--just pop on a sweater if you need a more-conservative look. They also work for day-to-evening. They are so comfy and they can be dressed up or down, depending on jewelry and shoes. Word of advice: consider a bigger size. I'm mainly a size 8, often a 6 (such as with Banana Republic), but I have size Large in this dress. They are kind of clingy and a Medium was just too tight. Also a must: either spanx or a slip. Don't let panty lines wreck your silhouette.
- Hoboken Mom

This is quite a nice dress and flattering. True to size and gives a very nice and sexy silhoutte. it boost your confidence while wearing this dress.
- Rain

It is super cute on keep pro if you don't be inflicted including a forceful rear aim and stomach you will be inflicted including to deposit on approximately spanks. I had to diplomacy approximately This dress is extremely pitiless.

  • The sleeveless shirred waist dress is a classic norma kamali dress with a wider neckline
  • This dress is cinched at the sides of the waist allowing for shirring to take place across the front of the dress creating a longer, leaner look,
  • The length is appropriate for work, but looks great with a funky heel to spice it up or with a blazer for a work-appropriate look,

GOOGLE spotlights a new artist today, and it's worth noting a few things:

She renders from real life to depict a poignant moment.

She deftly blends human images and iconic letters.

She gains an audience of millions Thursday.

Oh, and she's still an art student.

In high school.

On its home page, the tech titan is featuring an image by Wisconsin teenager Sabrina Brady, who on Wednesday was announced as the national champ of the Doodle 4 Google contest.

The competition's theme this year was 'My Best Day Ever ... ,' and the Sparta, Wisc., senior's winning work ' titled 'Coming Home' ' shows Sabrina running toward her father upon his return from an 18-month deployment in Iraq.

Except for the American flag she clutches, Sabrina draws herself and her dad in tones of black, white and gray ' until the moment of reunion, which is dramatically heightened by the sudden switch to full color. One 'O' in the word 'Google' becomes the golden sun, and her warrior-father stands in as the 'L.'

'Her creative use of the Google letters to illustrate this heartfelt moment clearly resonated with voters across the country and all of us at Google,' writes Doodle team leader Ryan Germick on a blogpost announcing the win.

Sabrina Brady's winning "Doodle 4 Google" work. (courtesy of GOOGLE 2013 - .)

Besides the home-page display, Google says Sabrina has won 'a $30,000 college scholarship, a Chromebook computer and a $50,000 technology grant for her school.'

The California-based company notes that the competition drew 130,000 submissions ' and that millions of votes were cast.

Google also announced four national finalists by grade division: Arizona first-grader Reagan Gonsalves; New York state fourth-grader Audrey Zhang; New Jersey seventh-grader Maria Iannone; and Maine eighth-grader Joseph Han.

The company announced the 50 state finalists ' including the Maryland and Virginia recipients ' early this month. All 50, Google says, 'will unveil a special exhibition of their artwork' at New York's American Museum of Natural History, where the Doodles will be on display till July 14.

As for Sabrina Brady's creative future, it's as bright as that shining big 'O.' Google reports that she'll attend the Minneapolis College of Art and Design this fall.

Her portfolio, of course, will already feature one nationally recognized work.

This dress took my eye immediately as blue is my favorite color. My problem--I ordered the Large size as that was the largest available at the time. I am a size larger. The dress did not fit me well. It has an empire waist line and fit tightly. Women's National Border Print DressThe sizing as described is good. I was the person that made the goof. This dress has laundried well and hasn't required pressing; however, it has more fabric in front than is needed, making it blouse out in front.

Fred Armisen Talks SNL Exit At Surprise Internet Week Appearance; Ambushed ... - International Business Times

By Ellen Killoran | May 22 2013 4:27 PM

Photo: NBC Fred Armisen said he will "always kind of be on" Saturday Night Live.

Fred Armisen of 'Saturday Night Live' and "Portlandia" fame made an unscheduled appearance at Internet Week New York Wednesday morning. He and veteran NYC comedian Seth Herzog delivered a 'keynote' address on nothing in particular: The conversation between the funnymen (who are old friends) covered everything from SNL to zoo animals to brunch, with a little bit of Internet thrown in to the mix.

One attendee tried to take the Q&A portion hostage, first challenging Armisen to explain why he writes skits about brunch if he doesn't like brunch (!?) before she got to her main point, which was to ask Armisen how old he is. Armisen was exceedingly gracious throughout: He happily answered her question (46, if anyone cares) but did gently point out that this information is easily found on the Internet. Eventually a conference moderator forcibly took the mic away from the woman. (Armisen was later seen chatting with her.)

Here are some of the highlights of the interview -- scroll down for a video clip.

Armisen on Polar Bears:

'I think we don't trust them enough, and that's a shame.' He suggested we release them from their cages and let them roam free in New York, and 'see what happens' If they do something bad, send them to jail.

'I think we've got to give them a chance.'

On Yahoo Buying Tumblr:

'I put in a bid on Tumblr. Eight mil.' Later, he defined 'bid' for the audience and said he was going to try again. 'You can do that, right?'

On 'Leaving' SNL:

'I feel like everyone on SNL comes back. No one ever leaves.'

Later, in response to an attendee who said his 7-year-old daughter was having a hard time with Armisen leaving the show: 'In a way I will always kind of be on. We all stay there' I love every minute there.'

On Brunch:

'Alcohol doesn't belong in the morning.'

On Punk Rock:

'Punk is a huge part of my life. I don't know if that is healthy or not' Punk is kind of optimistic and colorful.'

On How the Internet has Changed Television:

'Pre-Internet you would have to do a [regular] character a number of times; now a character takes on a life after one viewing.'

'The Internet helped [Portlandia]. It's when it goes on Netflix that people stop me on the street.'

Armisen's Advice to Future SNL cast members?

'Don't be precious about yourself and what you do. Edit yourself' If something doesn't go to air, it's fine. It's for your own good.

'There are things that are worth fighting for, but otherwise, leave it.'

***

Afterwards, I chatted with Herzog (otherwise known as The Zog, and host of Sweet, the longest-running weekly stand-up variety show in NYC), who explained that he was initially meant to share the stage with Justin Long, but the actor's shooting schedule took him out of New York. Armisen gamely filled in at the last minute. We talked about World War I and Evites and decade names. Then he went to get a lobster roll.

Will Jodi Arias live or die? - HLNtv.com

The jury deliberated for around an hour-and-a-half Tuesday about whether to sentence Jodi Arias to death via lethal injection before leaving for the day.

Deliberations will resume at 1:00 p.m. ET Wednesday.

Earlier Tuesday, Jodi Arias asked the jury, in a 19-minute speech, to spare her life.

Arias told the jury that killing her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander was the worst thing she has ever done, and that she's still horrified by the violence she is capable of.

'Either way, I'm going to spend the rest of my life in prison. It'll either be shortened or not. If it's shortened, the people who will hurt the most is my family. I'm asking you please, please don't do that to them. I've already hurt them so badly along with so many other people. I want everyone's healing to begin and I want everyone's pain to stop," said Arias.

Arias' voice cracked and she choked back tears as she told the jurors she would never become a mother, but said that despite spending the rest of her life in prison, her life would still have value to society.

"If I get permission, I'd like to implement a recycling program' each week, huge loads of waste are hauled off to landfill. A substantial proportion of that could be kept out of landfill and recycled instead. It may even create new jobs for the people there. This is one small thing that could have a positive and far-reaching impact on the community and planet,' said Arias. 'I'd like to start a book club or reading group. Something that brings people together in a positive and constructive way so that we can share and recommend other good books and stimulate discussions of a higher nature.'

7:25 p.m. ET: The jury has left for the day.

6:02 p.m. ET: The jury is now deliberating whether to sentence Arias to death or life in prison.

5:58 p.m. ET: Willmott has wrapped her rebuttal argument. Judge Stephens is giving the jurors their final instructions before the begin to deliberate.

5:56 p.m. ET: "Can you see there is still value in her life?" said Willmott

5:55 p.m. ET:

'Her family was not there for her when she needed them. And it's sad and so hard to say when they sit right here and have to listen to that. But you know what? When she was a teenager and she needed them, they were not there,' said Willmott.

5:53 p.m. ET:

'We're not talking about whether or not to convict. We're talking about whether or not to kill. And so when we talk about that, it matters that she was 27 years old and she had no criminal history. It matters that she hadn't done anything wrong in her life before that. It matters, when you make that decision to give her life in prison,' said Willmott.

5:50 p.m. ET: Willmott said at this point, Arias is begging for her life she is not entitled.

5:49 p.m. ET: Defense attorney Jennifer Willmott stood behind Arias, and touched her shoulders and said the question before the jury is whether or not they kill her.

5:48 p.m. ET: The jury is being seated.

5:47 p.m. ET: The judge is on the bench. The defense has the chance to give a rebuttal argument if they choose.

5:27 p.m. ET: Martinez has wrapped his closing argument. Judge Stephens has recessed court for 15 minutes. The live blog will pick back up when court resumes at 5:45 p.m. ET.

'You have a duty and that duty really means that you actually do the honest, right thing, even though it may be difficult. And in this case' the only thing you can do based on the mitigating circumstances and their lack of, is to return a verdict of death,' said Martinez.

5:25 p.m. ET:

5:22 p.m. ET: Martinez says the mitigating factors aren't strong enough when you look at the horrific nature of the crime.

5:21 p.m. ET: "Don't most people want to improve their life? Don't most people want to make the best of their life? She's doing the bare minimum. The absolute bare minimum that everybody does," said Martinez.

5:19 p.m. ET: Martinez says there is no evidence of abuse but Arias likes to play the victim.

"Are there any medical reports to support it? Are there any police reports? Are there any 911 calls?" said Martinez.

5:18 p.m. ET: The attorneys are at a sidebar with the judge.

5:15 p.m. ET: Martinez said Arias claims to have lack of support from the family, but her family has attended the trial almost everyday.

'The defendant also tells you that, with regards to another mitigating factor, is that she lacks support from her family. And then she talks out of the other side of her mouth and says to you, 'Well, they've been here throughout this whole trial.' Well which one is it? Have they been here throughout this whole trial or have they not? Have they failed to support her or not?' said Martinez.

5:14 p.m. ET: The attorneys are at a sidebar with the judge.

5:11 p.m. ET:

'Weren't you present when she sat in that witness chair after taking an oath to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, and look each and every one of you in the eye and started to talk to you about the events leading up to the crime? Well most of you know what perjury is. That doesn't mean she has been convicted ' no one's saying that. Just because you're not convicted does not mean you have not engaged in criminal conduct,' said Martinez. 'Is that really a good friend who will come up to you and lie to you? No, that is not what a friendship is.'

5:10 p.m. ET:

'She showed you pictures of her growing up. Mr. Alexander is no longer going to have any more yesterdays. He's not going to have or be able to enjoy the experiences she told you she's going to miss: holding a nephew, missing Christmas ' she told you about all of that,' said Martinez.

5:09 p.m. ET: Martinez is going through every mitigation factor the defense has mention and explaining how they are irrelevant to the crime. The attorneys are at a sidebar with the judge.

5:06 p.m. ET: Martinez said Arias' age has nothing to do with her actions. The attorneys are now at a sidebar with judge.

'She wasn't 18, she wasn't 19 years old. She wasn't anything like that. She had already experienced life,' said Martinez. 'She had experimented sexually. She had friends, according to her. She had had a good family. She had been out in the world on her own''

5:04 p.m. ET:

'It's an entitlement road that they want you to travel when they talk to you about the fact that she's a good artist. It doesn't mean anything. All it means is, give her special or preferential treatment ' that's what that means,' said Martinez.

5:03 p.m. ET: Martinez said when the defense says she is a talented artist what they are really doing is asking that she get special treatment, because she has a skill.

5:01 p.m. ET: Martinez is reminding the jury that if they give Arias life in prison she could be eligible for parole after 25 years.

4:59 p.m. ET: The attorneys are at a sidebar with the judge.

4:58 p.m. ET: Arias is looking away as autopsy photos are displayed in courtroom.

'What you're back there to do is find the facts. You don't advocate one side, you don't advocate the other. You don't go out on a limb and you don't investigate to see if there are any mitigating circumstances,' said Martinez. "For example, you don't say that she saved him from ever getting cancer."

4:54 p.m. ET: Martinez may have tried to display autopsy photos to the jury, but the defense objected. The attorneys are at a sidebar with the judge.

4:53 p.m. ET: Prosecutor Juan Martinez begins his closing argument by saying Travis Alexander will be forever young.

4:52 p.m. ET: Arias appears to be getting upset as Wilmott wraps her closing argument by asking the jury to save her life.

'Jodi took Travis away. She took him away from his family, and she took him away from this world. But two wrongs do not make a right. Jodi can still contribute to this world. Her life still has value and you have a choice,' said Willmott.

4:50 p.m. ET:

'She was once a bubbly and happy little girl. Somebody who always had a nose in a book, somebody who loved to write in her journals and somebody who loved to spend her days reading. She will be haunted by what she did, by what she did to Travis' family, by what she did to Travis and by what she's done to her own family. She is haunted by that,' said Willmott.

4:48 p.m. ET: Willmott said Arias did not choose to have a personality disorder.

"Having any personality disorder is not an excuse. It is not an excuse for killing Alexander... It is another reason you have to be merciful," said Willmott.

4:47 p.m. ET:

'Whether you believe that Travis physically abused Jodi or not, we know that he verbally abused her ' we know this. Because you've seen the hateful words. You've seen what they have said' You have to know that if Travis were sitting next to me in this case, the prosecutor would be using those same words, those same hateful words, against him,' said Willmott.

4:45 p.m. ET:

4:44 p.m. ET:

'When her little sister Angela was born, things changed. Jodi could feel it. Jodi all of a sudden was no longer getting along with her mother. She couldn't do anything right in her mother's eyes. She was getting grounded for unexplainable reasons. And when that happened, everything changed for Jodi,' said Willmott.

4:43 p.m. ET: Willmott said yes Arias lied to herself about her relationship with Alexander.

"No person wants to be called those horrible things," said Willmott. "But it is not an excuse to kill Travis... However, abuse is a mitigating factor."

4:40 p.m. ET:

'This has been a shock to the people that knew Jodi' it has been a shock to think that she was capable of such violence' So what we have to look at is why? Not excuses but why? We have to look at what changed the trajectory of her life. What is it that made her come here? Given all her talents she could have been a famous artist. She could have been an excellent sales woman. She could have been a defense attorney sitting next to me. But she's here, sitting next to me as a defendant. What changed the trajectory of her life?' said Willmott.

4:39 p.m. ET: Willmott said Arias has "almost no ego."

4:38 p.m. ET:

'If she is given the chance for life in prison, she will continue working to improve her existence and to add something to this world' she has goals, even in prison she can have goals,' said Willmott.

4:37 p.m. ET: Willmott said Arias could have been a famous artist or a successful saleswoman, but abuse and neglect changed her life's trajectory.

4:35 p.m. ET:

'The prosecution wants to paint her as a one-dimensional character -- a one-dimensional character who is defined by nothing else other than what she did to Travis. They want to do that because it makes it easy for you to execute her. But she is not a one-dimensional character. She had made so many other people happy in her life prior to coming here,' said Willmott.

4:33 p.m. ET: Arias is playing close attention to Willmott's closing argument. She has not showed any emotion so far.

4:31 p.m. ET:

'These are moral decisions for you to make ' your own personal decisions,' said Willmott.

4:29 p.m. ET: Willmott said Arias still has value in her life giving the example that she was a good friend.

4:28 p.m. ET:

4:27 p.m. ET:

'The state has attempted to shape this case into something to be nothing more than lies and manipulation. Like somehow, every word out of Jodi's mouth has been nothing more than a lie ' and her own witnesses. That's what the state wants you to believe. And that somehow, lying is appropriate now. That somehow, the state believes, because there's been lying that she should get the death penalty for that,' said Willmott.

4:26 p.m. ET: Willmott said mitigating factors don't need to be connected to the crime.

4:25 p.m. ET: "Mitigating factors are not excuse. They are not an excuse for what she did," said Willmott.

4:24 p.m. ET: Willmott said it is up to each individual juror to make up their mind whether Arias should live or die.

4:21 p.m. ET: Defense attorney Jennifer Willmott is giving her closing argument.

'People are far better than their very worst deed. And Jodi Arias is a far better person than her very worst deed,' said Willmott.

Willmott said Arias is better person that her worst deed, and the jurors will have to make a moral decision about whether she will live or die.

4:18 p.m. ET: The jury is being seated.

4:17 p.m. ET: Judge Sherry Stephens is on the bench.

4:14 p.m. ET: HLN's producer in the courtroom the family members have been seated, and court should resume shortly.

2:40 p.m. ET: Judge Stephens has recessed court for lunch. The live blog will pick back up when court resumes at 4:15 p.m. ET.

2:34 p.m. ET: The jurors do not have to get on which mitigation factor is present in this case.

2:32 p.m. ET: Stephens told the jurors the can use Alexander's siblings victim impact statements to rebut mitigation.

2:30 p.m. ET:

2:29 p.m. ET: During this final stage of the trial, defense attorney Kirk Nurmi will get to have the last word with a rebuttal argument.

2:26 p.m. ET: Stephens is now reading the jury instructions. She said the jury cannot be swayed by bias or sympathy.

2:24 p.m. ET: Judge Stephens is handing out copies of the jury instructions to the jurors.

2:16 p.m. ET: The attorneys are at a sidebar with the judge. Their closing arguments are next.

2:15 p.m. ET: Arias said she has made comments in the public that she preferred the death penalty, but now because of her family she is asking for her life to be spared. Arias has finished her statement. The judge has sent the jury out of the courtroom.

'Either way I'm going to spend the rest of my life in prison. It'll either be shortened or not. If it's shortened, the people who will hurt the most is my family. I'm asking you please, please don't do that to them. I've already hurt them so badly along with so many other people. I want everyone's healing to begin and I want everyone's pain to stop. Thank you," said Arias.

2:14 p.m. ET:

2:13 p.m. ET: Arias said before she killed Alexander she did not know she was capable of such violence. She is still horrified by what she did.

2:11 p.m. ET: Arias voiced cracked as she struggled to hold back tears when she was speaking about how she will never become a mother.

2:09 p.m. ET: Arias is periodically showing pictures of her family to the jury.

2:07 p.m. ET:

'If I get permission, I'd like to implement a recycling program' each week huge loads of waste are hauled off to landfill.

2:05 p.m. ET:

2:04 p.m. ET:

On Alexander's grandmother, who recently passed away:

'To know now that both are gone and that I may have also inadvertently induced her passing destroys me,' said Arias.

2:03 p.m. ET: Arias said she lives she will continue to donate her hair to locks of love. She said also wants to help women in prison learn how to read.

'Every time that I've had the thought or desire to commit suicide, there's one element that is always ' almost always ' caused me to waiver. They're sitting right over there. They're my family,' Arias said as she started to cry.

2:02 p.m. ET: Arias is reading her statement from pieces of notebook paper.

2:00 p.m. ET:

1:58 p.m. ET: 'My mom and I were silent for a few moments when she finally voiced exactly what I was thinking. She said, 'I know they're going through hell.' Yet nothing drove that point home for me more than when I heard them speak last week. I never meant to cause them so much pain," said Arias.

1:55 p.m. ET: Arias said she never meant to cause Alexander's siblings so much pain.

1:54 p.m. ET: Judge Stephens is informing the jury that Womack was going to speak to the jury, but she is unavailable to testify. Arias is approaching the podium to speak.

1:51 p.m. ET: The judge is on the bench. Arias is about to speak.

1:36 p.m. ET: Arias, clerk and reporter just came into the courtroom. Now Arias has disappeared into the holding cell area with her mitigation expert.

1:28 p.m. ET: From HLN's producer in the courtroom: We are in a holding pattern. Prosecutor and Flores remain at counsel table waiting patiently. Jodi and her attorneys remain in chambers. The mitigation specialist Maria Delarosa also waits for ex-parte hearing to end.

1:01 p.m. ET: HLN's Jean Casarez says the courtroom is packed. Arias' family members including her mother and father are seated and waiting for today's proceedings to get underway.

12:43 p.m. ET: Arias just came into the courtroom wearing all black, and she immediately went into the judge's chambers with her attorneys.

12:38 p.m. ET: Alexander's family members are being seated. Court should start any minute.

12:32 p.m. ET: Jodi will address the jury from a podium that is being placed in front of the jury box. The attorneys are in the courtroom. Arias has not been brought into the courtroom yet.

12:12 p.m. ET: From HLN's Jean Casarez:

Yesterday, Defense attorney Kirk Nurmi asked for a stay of the sentencing proceedings to seek special action relief from the appellate court.

I just called the Court of Appeals Division One here in Arizona to ask if the Arias defense has filed a Petition for Special Action Relief.

A search was done, and I was told nothing has been filed.

A request for Special Action Relief would be asking the appellate court to consider what was denied at the trial level by Judge Stephens...(granting a mistrial and granting the defense motion for Ineffective Assistance of Counsel).

The defense can also bypass the appellate court and go straight to the Supreme Court.

12:11 p.m. ET:

Jodi Arias may ask the jury to spare her life today.

Her statement, which may attempt to appeal directly to the jurors' sense of humanity, will be the finale to a nearly six-month courtroom drama.

The jurors will be hearing from Arias for the second time in the trial. The last time she spoke in court, she spent 18 days on the witness stand answering more than 5,400 questions. Jurors do not know that she told a local TV station after the verdict that she preferred death over spending the rest of her life in prison.

Arias was convicted of first-degree murderon May 8 for the grisly slaying of her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander. Last week, jurors reached their second verdict in the case, deciding that Arias murdered Alexander in a "cruel manner."

Monday's proceedings in court were atypical. Defense attorney Kirk Nurmi moved for a mistrial, and Judge Sherry Stephens denied it. Nurmi then asked Stephens for permission to withdraw from the case, which Stephens also promptly denied. Nurmi then announced that, because of the court's decisions, the defense would not call any witnesses during this stage of the trial. After a sidebar and closed-door meeting, Stephens abruptly adjourned court without giving a reason and simply told the jurors that court was unable to proceed. Stephens also said Arias will address the jury Tuesday.

A possible reason for the delay could be that Arias' defense team may have asked for more time so Arias can prepare the statement she will give to the jury.

After Arias' remarks, jurors will deliberate a third time to determine whether she is sentenced to life in prison or death via lethal injection.

Defense attorney Kirk Nurmi has asked the jury to consider a wide variety of mitigating factors, including the fact that Arias has no prior criminal history, that she suffered abuse and neglect as a child, and that she is a 'talented artist.'

The defense has also told the jurors they intend to display some of Arias' art to illustrate that her life behind bars may add value to society. It could be one of the most memorable moments of the trial.

If the jurors decide not to sentence Arias to death, Stephens will either sentence her to life in prison without parole or life in prison with the eligibility for parole after 25 years.
